Leaning wholly on God’s divine power and promises, and
realizing that all practical life is an outflow of my heart, I will pursue:
Diligence: I
will be proactive in my faith, daily growing in my ability to show myself
approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately
handling God’s Word and applying it in all ways to my life.
Moral Excellence: The fruit of diligence, if I am pursuing
Jesus, will be moral excellence, and I will do everything possible to plant,
nurture, mature, and harvest this good fruit.
Knowledge: I
will seek the knowledge of God; I will grow in true wisdom found only in humble
acceptance of divine revelation. Realizing that all knowledge is given by the
Omniscient One, I will conform even “worldly knowledge” to His reality.
Self-Control:
I will shore up gaps in the wall around my heart, denying sin a foot in the
door and refusing to be captured by its temporary pleasure and pervasive shame.
I will also not overindulge even in the good things God has given me, so that I
will not grow sick on what is sweet.
Perseverance: I
will persevere through trial and testing. I will not be shaken by the waves of
false teaching or doctrines of demons, and I will not take heed of the world’s
mocking or persecution.
Godliness: I
will strive to use all these pursuits as building blocks to restore the image
of God in me, so that I may reflect God in a way that brings Him all glory.
Brotherly
Kindness: I will never grow legalistic or self-obsessed in these
pursuits, but will in all ways, with humility and sincerity, pass on this
living water I have found so that I may strengthen and refresh all believers.
Love: More
than that kindness, I will love all
people wholeheartedly, even those who revile me. I will seek to give all people
a taste of God’s amazing love, so that they might deny the deadness of the
world and enter a true, life-giving relationship with the Lord.
This is my life
purpose. You are my vision, Oh Lord of my heart. You are my great Father, and I
your true son. You and you only, be first in my heart. Heart of my own heart,
whatever befall, still be my vision, oh ruler of all!
Kyle, I printed this out some months ago. It is profound. And I am cheering before His throne and the hosts of heaven as you and LeAnna live out His purposes for your live--these very things you have delineated, to His great glory and your great delight and fulfillment.
ReplyDeleteWow, Mr. Nelson, thank you! I read this a couple of years and thought, "It would be pretty amazing to marry someone like this..." And here we are!! Praise the Lord!
